I once heard a teen commenting on the fact that she cannot change the world.

Yes I certainly do agree that no one person can change the world, but if we all did our bits in our own small corners, we could possibly affect our environment and eventually our world as a whole. Saying Thank you! is one of the expressions we are thought from childhood but where does it disappear to in our teen years? You might want to say that it was the duty of your parents to look after you, since they brought you into this world.
Yes it was their duty, but they could easily have chosen to do other wise.

It is happening now where most parents are neglecting their responsibilities.
You could even say you were a victim to such parents and owe them no gratitude.

You might as well show them gratitude since you are still alive. Show gratitude to your teachers, doctors, siblings friends,etc. A sincere Thank You! Killed no one.

Once you help somebody do what they can not do for themselves, you are rendering a service and you will be amazed at the results you will eventually get by just satisfying one person.
